May 14, 2012

It is now a twelve-year tradition at the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope for the administration to recognize some of the outstanding team members of the UACCH Family.  This year three service awards were presented, as were several certificates for years of service, during the end-of-the year faculty and staff luncheon held recently at UACCH.

The 2012 Outstanding Alumni is April Campbell.  April started her college education at UACCH and graduated with honors in 2003. While attending, She was public relations officer of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, on the Chancellor’s or Dean’s list every semester, was employed in the Human Resources division of the college and was named business student of the year for 2002.

Following completion of her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Campbell served Arkansans as a member of Governor’s Beebe’s office and completed her Master of Business Administration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 2009.  She is currently employed with the Arkansas Department of Economic Development as a Senior Policy Analyst.

The 2012 UACCH Outstanding Faculty Member is Tom Freeman, a retiring history instructor.  He has excelled in the classroom and has worked diligently to fulfill the vision of this institution.  He began teaching at UACCH in August of 1994.  He excelled in his ability to help students expand their knowledge and educational experience.  One example was his involvement as the Student Government Association advisor for many years.  Freeman has exemplified the difference one can make in the lives of those around them.

The third award goes to the outstanding staff member and is known as the Spirit of Excellence in Service Award.  The recipient is Jannie Moten, who has served the students at UACCH since 2004 and currently serves as the Career Technical Education Student Success Coordinator. Among her many accomplishments, she recently served as team leader for the UACCH Relay for Life team.
