The Hot Springs Convention Center was alive with energy during the 2008-2009 Arkansas SkillsUSA Championship held April 14 & 15. Over 2000 of Arkansas’s finest Post Secondary and Secondary students gathered for one of the largest competitions ever. Events ranging from American Spirit to Welding created an unbelievable atmosphere of competitiveness that UACCH was proud to be a part of. The Industrial Electricity Department made good on last year’s promise of “brining home the gold” by securing the top three positions in Residential Wiring and the top three positions in the Industrial Motors and Controls divisions. Representing the Industrial Electrical Department in Residential Wiring, 1st place Gold went to Robert Welch, 2nd place Silver went to Rufus Tollett and 3rd place went to Joey Osborne. Representing the Industrial Electrical Department in Industrial Motors and Controls, 1st place Gold went to Pat Latin, 2nd place Silver went to Jeremy Miller and 3rd place went to Jesus Estrada.
The Diesel Technology Department was able to lend a hand with UACCH’s Keith Morton bringing home the Silver Medal in the Diesel Equipment Farm Division. Richard Buck, Prince McLaughlin, and Robert Williamson competed in the Diesel Equipment Truck Division.
The Welding Department was also well represented during their debut at the Arkansas SkillsUSA Championships in three separate divisions.
