The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) recently performed a campus visit of the University of Arkansas Texarkana campus that resulted in the accreditation of the new partnership with the University of Arkansas at Little Rock to provide UALR bachelor degree programs on the Texarkana campus.
The HLC reported that the additional location in Texarkana conforms to the description provided by UALR, and no further HLC monitoring is required. The site visit fulfills the federal regulations and provides a “green light” for these four-year bachelor degree programs on the Texarkana campus.
UALR will offer bachelor’s degrees in Applied Science, Professional Studies, General Business, and Construction Management. These specific programs were selected because of the opportunities they provide for students in areas of scholarships, research, intern opportunities, and ultimately jobs.
More than 98 percent of the Construction Management majors find jobs before graduation, for example, having had opportunities for internships while going to college because of the industry’s high workforce demand.
U of A Hope Texarkana Chancellor Chris Thomason said, “We are certainly pleased to have completed this process and are ready to take our service of providing a quality University of Arkansas system education to students in Miller and surrounding counties. We are pleased to have UALR in this partnership of expanding educational opportunities for this region and look forward to exciting days ahead.”
HLC accredits degree-granting post-secondary institutions of higher education. The commission’s mission is “serving the common good by assuring and advancing the quality of higher learning.”
