Health Professions Foundation Scholarship Criteria


Please Note:  You MUST be ACCEPTED into one of the health profession programs to be eligible for the health professions/funeral service scholarships.

 

General Health Profession Scholarships

J.W. & Janis Brian Rowe Endowed Scholarship
The Rowe Family offers financial support through the J.W. & Janis Brian Rowe Endowed Scholarship to a student  who has been accepted into one of the health professions programs at the University of Arkansas Hope • Texarkana. This is a fall-spring scholarship and is paid in two consecutive semesters during the same academic year.  The dollar amount and number of scholarships awarded are based on fund availability.  Continued eligibility is subject to academic performance and other scholarship criteria as follows:

  1. Student must be accepted into one of the medical programs at UAHT

 

Pinehope Health Professions Endowed Scholarship
The Pinehope Health Professions Endowed Scholarship offers financial support to a student enrolled at the University of Arkansas Hope • Texarkana.  This is a fall-spring scholarship and is paid in two consecutive semesters during the same academic year.  The dollar amount and number of scholarships awarded are based on fund availability.  Continued eligibility is subject to academic performance and other scholarship criteria as follows:

  1. Student must be pursuing a degree in the field of Health Professions
  2. Student must have/maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher

 


EMT-Paramedic Scholarships

Pafford Emergency Medical Services Endowed Scholarship
The Pafford Family offers financial support through the Pafford Emergency Medical Services Endowed Scholarship to a student who is enrolled in the Emergency Medical Technician certificate program or has been accepted into the EMT-Paramedic program at the University of Arkansas Hope • Texarkana. This scholarship is awarded as a spring-fall scholarship, with the first award being paid in the spring semester of one academic year and the second award being paid in the fall semester of the following academic year.  The dollar amount and number of scholarships awarded are based on fund availability.  Continued eligibility is subject to academic performance and other scholarship criteria as follows:

  1. Student must be enrolled in EMT certificate or EMT-Paramedic degree program
  2. Student must have/maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher
  3. Student must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours per semester
  4. Student receiving any other scholarship is not eligible for the Pafford EMS Endowed Scholarship; based on financial need

 

Rook, Ferrand and Clingan Memorial Endowed Scholarship
The City of Hope, Arkansas offers financial support through the John “Jay” Rook, Scott Ferrand and Christopher Clingan Memorial Endowed Scholarship to a student who has been accepted into the Paramedic Program at the University of Arkansas Hope • Texarkana. This is a spring-fall scholarship with the first award being paid in the spring semester of one academic year and the second award being paid in the fall semester of the following academic year.  The dollar amount and number of scholarships awarded are based on fund availability.  Continued eligibility is subject to academic performance and other scholarship criteria as follows:

Scholarship criteria are as follows:

  1. Student must be accepted in the U of A Hope • Texarkana Paramedic Program
  2. Student must have/maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher


 

Funeral Service Scholarships

Brazzel Funeral Services Annual Scholarship
Brazzel Funeral Home offers financial support through the Brazzel Funeral Services Annual Scholarship to a student who has been accepted into the Funeral Service program at the University of Arkansas Hope • Texarkana.  The $1,000 scholarship is payable in two consecutive semesters (fall-spring; $500 per semester).  Continued eligibility is subject to academic performance and other scholarship criteria as follows:

  1. Student must be accepted in the Funeral Services Program
  2. Student must be a full-time student (taking 12 or more credit hours)
  3. Student must have/maintain a 3.00 cumulative GPA or higher
  4. Preference given to Hempstead or Nevada County resident

 

J.T. and Edith Honeycutt Endowed Scholarship
Dr. John & Ann Honeycutt and Dr. Jerry and Betty Honeycutt Welch offer financial support through the J.T. and Edith Honeycutt Endowed Scholarship to a student enrolled at the University of Arkansas Hope • Texarkana.  This is a fall-spring scholarship and is paid in two consecutive semesters of the same academic year.  The dollar amount and number of scholarships awarded are based on fund availability.  Continued eligibility is subject to academic performance and other scholarship criteria as follows:

  1. Student must be pursuing a degree in Funeral Services
  2. Student must have/maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher

 


Practical Nursing Scholarships

Aaron Ellis Memorial Annual Scholarship
The University of Arkansas Hope • Texarkana Practical Nursing Club offers financial support through the Aaron Ellis Memorial Annual Scholarship to a student at UAHT.  The $1,000 scholarship is payable in two consecutive semesters (fall-spring; $500 per semester) during the same academic year.  Continued eligibility is subject to academic performance and other scholarship criteria as follows:

  1. Student must be accepted into the Practical Nursing program
  2. Student must have/maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher
  3. Student should demonstrate a willingness to learn and encourage their peers

 

Charles & Helen Downs Endowed Scholarship
Charles & Helen Downs offers financial support to a student who has been accepted into the Practical Nursing Program at the University of Arkansas Hope • Texarkana.  This is a fall-spring scholarship and is paid in two consecutive semesters during the same academic year.  The dollar amount and number of scholarships awarded are based on fund availability.  Continued eligibility is subject to academic performance and other scholarship criteria as follows:

  1. Student must be accepted in the Practical Nursing Program
  2. Student must be a full-time student (taking 12 or more credit hours)
  3. Student must have/maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher
  4. Preference given to single parents

 

Don McAdams U of A Hope • Texarkana to UAMS Nursing Program Annual Scholarship
The Kiwanis Club of Hope offers financial support through the Don McAdams U of A Hope • Texarkana to UAMS Nursing Program Annual Scholarship to a student at the University of Arkansas Hope • Texarkana.  This scholarship is paid to a student who is graduating from the  

U of A Hope • Texarkana Practical Nursing Program and has been accepted into the UAMS BSN Program on the Hope Campus.  Selection is based on recommendation from PN instructors.

 

Dorothy and Leon “Buck” Davis Endowed Scholarship
Judy Beth Davis offers financial support through the Dorothy and Leon “Buck” Davis Endowed Scholarship to a student at the University of Arkansas Hope • Texarkana.  This is a fall-spring scholarship and is paid in two consecutive semesters during the same academic year.  The dollar amount and number of scholarships awarded are based on fund availability.  Continued eligibility is subject to academic performance and other scholarship criteria as follows:

  1. Student must be pursuing a degree in nursing
  2. Student must have/maintain a 2.75 cumulative GPA or higher
  3. Preference given to student with greatest “unmet” need
  4. Preference given to non-traditional student
  5. Preference given to Hempstead County resident

 

Mona Rowe Rowland Memorial Endowed Scholarship
J.W. Rowe offers financial support through the Mona Rowe Rowland Memorial Endowed Scholarship to a student at the University of Arkansas Hope • Texarkana.  This is a fall-spring scholarship and is paid in two consecutive semesters during the same academic year.  The dollar amount and number of scholarships awarded are based on fund availability.  Continued eligibility is subject to academic performance and other scholarship criteria as follows:

  1. Student must be accepted in and pursuing a certificate in Practical Nursing
  2. If no student is available for criterion #1, secondary preference given to student pursuing a degree in business

 

Ned R. & Carolyn B. Purtle Endowed Nursing Scholarship
Ned and Carolyn Purtle offer financial support for students who have been accepted into the Practical Nursing Program at the University of Arkansas Hope • Texarkana.  This is a fall-spring scholarship and is payable in two consecutive semesters of the same academic year.  The dollar amount and number of scholarships awarded are based on fund availability.  Continued eligibility is subject to academic performance and other scholarship criteria as follows:

  1. Student must be accepted in the Practical Nursing Program
  2. Student must be a full-time student (taking 12 or more credit hours)
  3. Student must have/maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher
  4. Preference will be given to residents of Hempstead or Nevada counties

 

Pat Tidwell Memorial Award in Nursing Endowed Scholarship
Dr. Lawrence Bigongiari offers financial support through the Pat Tidwell Memorial Award in Nursing Endowed Scholarship for a student who has been accepted into the Practical Nursing Program at the University of Arkansas Hope • Texarkana.  This scholarship is awarded to the student who is selected as the most “Compassionate Professional” among his or her peers. To submit a nomination, please abide by the following guidelines:

  1. The nominee must be a student who has been accepted into the Practical Nursing Program at U of A Hope • Texarkana
  2. Write a brief letter addressed to the “Selection Committee” explaining why the student you are nominating is deserving of the award and how they have demonstrated compassion in their nursing studies thus far.  Submit to Dean of Enrollment Management by deadline

 

Virginia Clinton Kelley Practical Nursing Endowed Scholarship
The Honorable William Jefferson Clinton offers financial support through the Virginia Clinton Kelley Practical Nursing Endowed Scholarship to a student who has been accepted into the Practical Nursing program at the University of Arkansas Hope • Texarkana.  This scholarship is awarded annually in the spring semester.  The dollar amount and number of scholarships awarded is based on fund availability and scholarship criteria as follows:

  1. Student must be accepted in the Practical Nursing program
  2. Student must have/maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher
  3. Student must demonstrate financial need

 

 

ARNEC Nursing Scholarships

Alna R. Watkins Endowed Scholarship
John E. Watkins and Sally W. Horm, children of Alna R. Watkins, offer financial support through the Alna R. Watkins Endowed Scholarship to a student who has been accepted into the Arkansas Rural Nursing Education Consortium (ARNEC – PN to associate level RN program) at the University of Arkansas Hope • Texarkana.  This is a fall-spring scholarship and is paid in two consecutive semesters during the same academic year.  The dollar amount and number of scholarships awarded are based on fund availability.  Continued eligibility is subject to academic performance and other scholarship criteria as follows:

  1. Student must be a current ARNEC student at the U of A Hope • Texarkana
  2. Student must currently work in the health care industry
  3. Student must submit with the scholarship application a recommendation from current employer
  4. Preference given to current employees of Hillcrest Care and Rehabilitation Center, or its successor engaging in the activity of providing long term care, located in Prescott, Arkansas, pursuing a higher degree in the nursing (health) profession

 

CHRISTUS St. Michael Annual Nursing Scholarship
CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System Foundation offers financial support to students who are pursuing a RN degree through the ARNEC program at the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana.  This is a spring-fall scholarship and is paid in two consecutive semesters within the same calendar year.  The dollar amount and number of scholarships awarded are based on fund availability.  Continued eligibility is subject to academic performance and other scholarship criteria as follows:

  1. Students must be pursuing a RN degree through the ARNEC program at UA Hope-Texarkana
  2. Student must have/maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher
  3. Preference given to student with greatest unmet need

  1. Student must be a current ARNEC student
  2. Student must have/maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher
