Single Parent Scholarships


Hempstead County Single Parent Scholarship (click for application)

  1. Resident of Hempstead County, Arkansas for at least 30 days preceding the deadline for receipt of completed application. Applicant may be required to produce deposit receipts, utility bills, or other proof of residency.
  2. Single head of household (never married, separated, divorced, or widowed) with legal custody and sole responsibility of one or more children under the age of 18. Applicant may be asked to provide proof of marital status.
  3. Pursuing a career-oriented course of study (full or part-time) to ensure a better standard of living for his/her family.
  4. Enrolled in an accredited, public or private non-profit post secondary school in a program providing marketable skills to achieve self-sufficiency. Applicants cannot already have earned an undergraduate degree with the exception of a students working towards a Master of Arts in Education.
  5. Recipient of, or in the process of obtaining a Pell Grant.
  6. Low-income person at or near the poverty level. Applicant may be asked to provide current tax forms.
  7. Have maintained a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Students who fail to maintain the required cumulative GPA will be given one (1) probationary semester to raise the GPA to the required level. Failure to raise the GPA during the probationary semester may result in the loss of the scholarship.

Applications deadlines are as follows:

Fall: July 1
Spring: November 30
Summer: April 30

Lafayette County Single Parent Scholarship (click for application)

Hope First Assembly of God Isaiah 60:1 Annual Scholarship

The Hope First Assembly of God offers financial support to a student enrolled at the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope.  This $500 scholarship, payable in the fall semester, is awarded annually.  Criteria is as follows:

  1.  Applicant must be a single mother.
  2. Applicant must be a resident of Hempstead County.
  3. Applicant must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
  4. Preference will be given to an active member of Hope First Assembly of God Church.

 

Kiwanis Club of Hope Single Parent Scholarship

The Kiwanis Club of Hope offers financial support to a student enrolled at the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope.  This $500 scholarship, payable in two consecutive semesters (fall-spring; $250 per semester), is awarded annually.  Continued eligibility is subject to academic performance and other scholarship criteria as follows:

  1. Applicant must be a full-time student at UACCH (taking 12 or more credit hours).
  2. Applicant must have a college grade point average of 2.5. If applicant has not attended college they must be a high school graduate with a minimum cumulative 2.5 grade point average or obtained a GED.
  3. Applicant must be the single head of the household with legal custody of one or more children under the age of 18. A copy of your Income Tax Return is required.
  4. In order to retain the scholarship for the second semester, a 2.5 cumulative GPA is required.
