May 7, 2012

The University of Arkansas Community College at Hope has partnered with the National Park Service to offer a Junior Ranger Explorer Summer Camp July 23-27. The National Park Junior Ranger Explorer Camp connects young people to their national parks through many hands-on, guided, and self-guided activities.  National Park Service Ranger, Tarona Armstrong has developed an outstanding camp that is sure to be an educational and fun experience for all Junior Rangers.  The camp is open for boys and girls 10 – 13 years of age to register to attend this FREE summer camp.

On Monday, July 23, the campers will be issued their Junior Ranger Gear which includes t-shirt, backpack, journal, water-bottle, and their very own picture ID like a real Junior Ranger.  On Tuesday the campers will be making an overnight trip to Little Rock to visit several national parks.  During the Junior Ranger Explorer Camp trip each student will travel to Little Rock Central High School Historic Site, attend a Leadership Workshop presented by Minnijean Brown Trickey, one of the Little Rock Nine, tour the William Jefferson Clinton Presidential Library, and visit the Hot Springs National Park. On Thursday the students will tour the President William Jefferson Clinton Birthplace home in Hope and the camp will conclude on Friday, July 27, with a Junior Ranger graduation at 6:00p.m. in the auditorium on the UACCH campus.

REGISTRATION is limited to the first 30 participants to register. Registration begins on May 10 at 8:00 a.m.  To register your student for this exciting camp, it is preferred that a parent or guardian of the enrolling camper bring a completed registration form to Nancy Kenworthy at the Technical and Industrial Building on the UACCH Campus on May 10th.  For more information contact Nancy Kenworthy at 870-722-8102 or email her at nancy.kenworthy@uacch.edu.
